The IVPA was formed to support local veterinarians in their practices so they can run their practice with the values & goals they hold dear while providing the best care to pets and owners. We are an independent veterinary practice and want you to know more about why we believe it is important to distinguish ourselves as an independent vet. We hope you find a friendly staff dedicated to you & the veterinary care of your furry loved ones.

We believe in our mission statement and treat our patients with kindness & sympathy. We strive to accommodate our patients so they can relax while they are here. We listen and help owners make the best decisions for their family, understanding they know their pet best. Our goal is to promote health and prevent problems as much as possible. We offer multiple methods to help promote general health and wellness as well as treatment of many common diseases and conditions.

Most problem behaviors are the result of simple miscommunication. Owners don't always know what behaviors are truly normal for their pets.

You may notice the Independent Veterinary Practitioners Association (IVPA) logo and #VetLocal around our hospital, website and social media sites.

We utilize the latest technologies to help us perform our tasks thoroughly and to a higher standard.
I started with a biology degree from the University of Kentucky (Go Cats!) then graduated from Auburn University with my veterinary degree in 1997.
I took over Cherokee Animal Hospital in 2006 and have been very busy ever since!
I am married to a very patient man, have two wonderful children and a house full of animals.
Being a veterinarian is all I ever considered doing.
I feel very lucky that I get to do what I love every day, and am surrounded by truly fabulous people both at home and at work!
Our previous clinic was a 70-year-old house, and it limited what we were able to do in terms of providing care.
Our new facility allows our veterinarians to o er premium animal care in a safer, more efficient, and more comfortable setting.
Our lobby is clean, cozy, and colorful, and is a welcoming place for animals and humans alike.
At Cherokee Animal Hospital, we love pets, and we aren't afraid to show it!
As yearly exams and check-ups are an important part of your dog or cat's life, we take pride in the clean and efficient aura our exam rooms exhibit.
Many owners are looking for alternative methods for treating themselves and want the same options for their pets.
Alternative therapies are options beyond the traditional medications.
Sometimes we are already using all the medications we have available for certain problems but still need additional help.
Some pets may not be able to take the recommended medications due to side effects.
Alternative treatments offer different ways to approach common problems and can be used along side traditional medications.
The biggest difference between herbals or other supplements and traditional medications is that supplements and herbals are often gentler and come with fewer side effects.
On the flipside, their effects are more subtle and may take longer to perceive.
However, this doesn't make them any less valuable.
When used correctly, they can greatly improve medical conditions and benefit overall health.
That being said, herbals and supplements can be quite harmful if used improperly or for the wrong conditions.
