Services
St. Matthews Animal Clinic is a special place-with lots of special people, including our staff of five experienced veterinarians who are passionate about pet care!
The clinic was founded by Dr. Bruce Catlett, a man who was very dear to his clients because of his willingness to help everyone who came to the clinic.
He was known for his big heart and his passion.
Although Dr. Catlett passed away in 2001, he is still an inspiration and a reminder of the clinic's long-term commitment to the community and to the region's animals.
Did you know that accreditation for animal hospitals is voluntary?
Surprising, isn't it?
Nearly 60 percent of pet owners believe that their pet's veterinary hospital is accredited when it is not.
In actuality, only 12-15% of animal hospitals have gone through the accreditation evaluation process by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA).
We are proud to call ourselves an AAHA-accredited hospital.
In the United States, all human hospitals that serve people with Medicare must be accredited through an accrediting body; they undergo regular reviews and quality checks to ensure they meet standards of quality for every aspect of medical care.
Authorization to Release Veterinary RecordsIn accordance with the Veterinary Practice Act regarding the confidentiality of patient medical records, a written authorization or other form of waiver executed by the client or an appropriate court order or subpoena is required in order for St. Matthews Animal Clinic to produce copies of your pet's medical records.
Medical records released shall not contain any financial information of the owner.
Only medical treatment records shall be released.
I certify that I am the sole and rightful owner of the patient or that I am acting as a legal agent for the owner.
St. Matthews Animal Clinic is active in the St. Matthews and greater Louisville community through involvement in a number of animal welfare events and charities.
Our practice works closely with The Animal Care Society, Shamrock Pet Foundation, Saving Sunny Foundation, as well as the Woodstock Animal Foundation to offer charitably discounted medical services from our doctors for rescued dogs and cats throughout the year.
Our doctors and staff have been involved in many local events, including, No Kill Louisville's Million Mutt March, The Kentucky Humane Society's Waggin' Trail Walk, Kentucky Country Day School's Career Day, Animal Care Society's Bark in the Park, Greathouse Shryock Traditional Elementary School's Career Day, and the JCC Doggie Dip.
At St. Matthews Animal Clinic, we have the very highest standard of care for our patients.
That's especially true when it comes to surgery; all of our veterinarians are qualified surgeons.
Of course, our practice performs many common surgeries, such as spay and neuter procedures, growth removals and oral surgery.
We also have the expertise to do many other kinds of surgeries like an abdominal exploratory, foreign body removal, and amputations.
At that time you will meet with one of our veterinary technicians who will go over the surgical process for the day and answer any questions you may have.
