Services
At Pet Haven Animal Hospital we provide your pet with an extensive range of routine and specialized medical care for dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, small mammal pocket pets and other exotics.
Our comprehensive veterinary services attend to all of your concerns in a professional and compassionate atmosphere.
An annual visit to your veterinarian provides an opportunity for a routine health check as well as any revaccinations (boosters) that are necessary.
A wellness exam is a routine medical examination that is performed in order to monitor and optimize your pet's health and assesses your pet's current health condition.
This will give our veterinarians the proper information to help discover any underlying hidden diseases or conditions, and allow for an early diagnosis and curative treatment that will ensure your pet's longevity.
During a routine wellness examination, your veterinarian will ask you questions about your pet's diet, exercise, thirst, breathing, behavior, habits, elimination patterns (i.e., bowel movements and urination), lifestyle, and general health.
We tailor our vaccine protocol to each patient's life style and risk factors with the ultimate goal of giving as few vaccines as possible.
We begin to vaccinate puppies as early as 6-8 weeks of age with follow-up vaccinations every 3-4 weeks until your puppy is at least 4 months old.
Please try to remember to bring a fecal/stool sample with you so that it can be checked for intestinal parasites.
All puppies receive a series of DA2PP (distemper, parvo, hepatitis, parainfluenze) vaccinations and the Rabies vaccine is usually given with the last of the series at 4 months of age.
With proper testing and the administration of preventative medication and measures, most common parasites can be effectively controlled or eliminated.
Internal parasites are those that can invade your pet's gastrointestinal tract or other internal organs such as their heart.
Puppies and kittens often acquire gastrointestinal parasites from their mothers.
Therefore, it is important that you bring a sample of their stool with you when you come to Pet Haven for their first visit so that it can be analyzed for the presence of parasites.
There is now a wide array of medications available for treating and controlling external parasites, such as fleas, ticks, and ear mites.
Most treatments need to be given or applied just once monthly.
The recent introduction of the product Trifexis (dogs only) makes control of Heartworm, Intestinal Parasites (roundworms, hookworms, whipworms) and Fleas as simple as giving one tablet a month.
Revolution is a very effective product that we recommend for cats as it eliminates fleas, ear mites, roundworms and hookworms.
