Allison Lane Animal Hospital was built and founded in 1973 by Dr. Dean and Joanna Steider. Dr. Steider and his wife served the area for 30 years. Through hard work and great dedication, they established Allison Lane Animal Hospital as a vital part of the Jeffersonville community. In early 2000 Dr. Steider was joined by Dr. Melanie Roberts and Dr. Kris Trowbridge, acting manager for the hospital's new owner Dr. Kirk Swigert.

The business continued to grow and evolve and in 2002 Dr. Melanie Roberts and her husband Dr. Jim Roberts partnered with Dr. Swigert at Allison Lane Animal Hospital. Jim and Melanies' arrival brought many updates to the practice. In 2002 they updated the business by adding ultrasound capability and in 2003 Allison Lane Animal Hospital became the first veterinary hospital in the area to have Laser surgery available.

Other improvements include: equipment for measuring eye pressure and detecting glaucoma, a doppler blood pressure machine, increased professional staff to include a total of four veterinarians and a veterinary technician, the addition of a full-time professional groomer, an updated inventory with a variety of cutting edge medications and treatments available, new knowledge and information through veterinary training and continuing education.
Services
Our main concern has and always will be treating animals with care and compassion, like one of our own.
But, that care and compassion does not stop with them.
We realize that these animals, regardless of how big or small, of how young or old, of how groomed or scruffy, are members of the family, companions, best friends, confidants, and much more.
By realizing the importance of this bond, we find our job extends to the whole family.
We pride ourselves on making sure that everyone understands how to take the best care of your loved ones and understands fully any problems they may have.
Allison Lane Animal Hospital is Located at 1660 Allison Lane in Jeffersonville, IN, near the intersection of Allison Lane and Middle road.
We are less than 1 mile South of Meijer (which is at 10th Street and Allison Lane).
Take 10th Street (HWY 62/HWY 3) away from 65. Follow it for several miles to the intersection of Allison Lane and 10th Street (Look for the Meijer located on the far right, and the Walgreens on the hill on the left).
At this intersection turn right.
Follow Allison Lane past Jeff High School (on right).
Our physical exam fee also covers the office visit, therefore, you are charged this type of fee at any doctor's office.
However, each time that you present to our clinic, for any problem, your pet will receive a full exam, head-to-toe.
This way we can catch any problems that your pet may be having in addition to the presenting complaint.
We pride ourselves on this thorough care.
Our doctors need to examine all patients once yearly to keep an established client-patient-veterinary relationship, which is required by law to be able to prescribe any medications (including prescription foods).
Lab work includes a large variety of various tests that can be preformed to assist a veterinarian in diagnosing an animal's condition.
Our doctors have a wide range of laboratory tests at their fingertips with our in-house laboratory facilities.
This allows us to both diagnose disease and establish treatment plans quickly for critical patients.
It also gives us same day lab results for patients having surgery.
We also provide laboratory services through the nation's largest veterinary diagnostic laboratory (Antech Diagnostics), and other diagnostic labs.
Animals can have high and low blood pressures too.
Their blood pressure can be taken on their front arm, but we usually take it on their tail where it is less likely to cause anxiety.
A few years ago we added a new blood pressure machine into our artillery of diagnostics.
It is faster and easier for the pet and very accurate, providing us with a reliable diastolic and systolic measurement.
Our new ECG and Pulse Ox Surgery Monitor makes anesthesia even safer for your pet.
Our surgical assistants only job during a procedure is to take respiration rates and heart rates and monitor the patient's anesthesia.
