Services
The Athens Veterinary Clinic has continued to provide care to both large and small animals for quite some time.
Dr. James Bratton and his brother-in-law, Dr. Marvin Phillips, started the "Athens Veterinary Hospital" back in 1952.
Dr. Erik Aanestad purchased the practice in 1993 and it has continued to operate as the Athens Veterinary Clinic.
Dr. Aanestad passed away in 2015, but his son, Dr. Marshall Aanestad, has since graduated from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine and has revived our multi-generation practice.

Due to a high number of no-show appointments and the high demand for urgent veterinary care, as of 3/12/2021, the Athens Veterinary Clinic requires a $40 deposit be paid in advance for all new clients in order to hold an appointment.
This deposit applies directly to the cost of the appointment for the animal and is not an additional charge that the client incurs.
Deposits can be made over the phone or in person.
This policy does not apply to established clients unless there have been multiple offenses.

Firstly, our pets can't speak, they cannot tell us if they feel off colour or unwell or have any other indicators of internal illness.
We need to examine them every 6 months as well as run some routine screening tests to detect underlying disease BEFORE it is clinically apparent.
