The Salt Box house was constructed by Ebenezer Howe, one of the first settlers of the area.
At that time the eighty-acre lot was part of Winchendon.
Mr. Howe was one of the signers of the petition for incorporating the new town of Gardner.
The house was later purchased by furniture factory owner, Mr. Keyworth, at the turn of the century.
He updated the house, barn, and landscape, including planting hundreds of Black Walnut trees.
The house was bought by Herb Brooks, who added a sunroom and many gardens.

When Dr. Brian C. Hurley was five years old, his dog, Shelley, was seriously injured.
They rushed her to the veterinarian, but her injuries were too extensive to save and they had to say good-bye.
That was the day he decided to become a veterinarian.
Dr. Hurley felt that he would do everything in his power to never let another treasured family member leave their family again.
He was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, but moved frequently beginning at the age of nine.

How do we stand out from the rest, when most veterinary hospital missions and visions are essentially the same?
Routinely hospitals strive for excellence in everything they do, exceptional client service, exceptional veterinary and ancillary care, maintaining this excellence through continuing education and keeping abreast of technological advances.
It is not uncommon to see hospitals state they look to "set the standards in veterinary and pet care."
What then is the difference between hospitals?
