Glenwood Veterinary Clinic
Here, You're Family An advanced veterinary practice on a simple mission: to care for people like family, and to care for pets like our own. Because when your pet looks into your eyes, they see a hero. We'll help you care for them like one. Passion, Purpose, and Love We are animal lovers to our core. And to us, caring for your pet the right way is not a profession.

It is our calling in life. We believe in giving your pet the same quality of medicine that you would want for any member of your family. And while the goal is simple, the road to get there is complex. It takes a deeply thorough approach to physical exams. It takes higher standards in medical workups, surgical procedures, and technology. And it takes a special kind of team.

Everything we do is about making a positive impact in your life. Everything we do is about making sure your pet has the kind of care they deserve. The next step is to give us a call - we have two convenient locations for you to choose from. Our caring team will ask you a few questions about your pet's health and will schedule an appointment time that is convenient for your schedule.
Services
Dr. Melissa Harrer graduated from Iowa State University's College of Veterinary Medicine.
Her philosophy on veterinary medicine is to provide high-quality care, thorough examination, and comprehensive diagnostic and treatment options.
She enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, especially dermatology, internal medicine and surgery; with a special interest in stem cell therapy and laser surgery.
Melissa was raised in Larchwood, a small town in northwest Iowa, where she spent a lot of time on her grandfather's farm.
As with humans, pets have certain physical, emotional and lifestyle needs that contribute to their overall health.
However, pets can't articulate their needs or feelings if something seems to be out of order.
So the task of health maintenance for our pets falls to us and, of course, we can't just ask our pets how they feel.
You may notice if they behave differently than they normally do but, you may not always be able to detect the underlying problems that cause these behavioral shifts.
In many cases, problems are temporary and minimal, but staying closely aware of your pet's general fitness and specific health issues can help you to better detect when something is outside of their normal, healthy range.
Platelet-Rich Plasma, or PRP, is blood plasma that contains concentrated amounts of platelets and growth factors.
PRP is a non-surgical and advanced means of providing high doses of the body's own healing factors directly to the area where they are needed.
When your pet undergoes surgery, you may have a number of concerns.
New technologies have made veterinary surgery easier and safer, to ensure better care for animals.
Laser surgery offers many advantages for the treatment of pets.
At The Animal Clinic we provide state-of-the-art laser surgery for our patients' needs.
Fundraising Grants Education Mentoring As a clinic we hold fund raisers for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, Imana Kids and Salvation Army in Council Bluffs.
We donate veterinary care, food and treats for the Council Bluffs Fire Department dog, Gibson.
We donate veterinary care to the Mills County Sheriff canines and Glenwood Police canines.
Because we love this community, and we want the best for its animals and animal lovers.
Volunteering Grants Education Mentoring Dr. Melissa Harrer volunteers as a coach for soccer and baseball.
A cost estimate will be provided after the consultation with the attending veterinarian.
These estimates are not binding quotes and may change as the diagnoses are completed and treatment options are finalized.
The estimate may be revised if results of diagnostic testing alter the plan for treatment.
Any changes in the estimate will be discussed with you prior to performing any additional procedures, unless an emergency situation arises.
