IEVC is a unique animal hospital devoted to the care of pet birds, small mammals (like ferrets, rabbits, and guinea pigs) and reptiles. We do not take care of dogs and cats, and so everything about us is specialized for exotic pet care only. IEVC has veterinarians with advanced specialty training in birds and companion exotics. We provide a wide variety of services from pet care consultations, behavior advice, grooming, and vacation care, to advanced procedures, diagnostics, surgery, and therapy.

All this in a warm, friendly, clean environment with a passionate, knowledgable, and cheery staff! We do no not treat dogs or cats so that our more timid pets do not feel threatened or stressed. We are happy to offer a number of resources that enable you to learn about how to take better care of your exotic companion. The best veterinary care for animals is ongoing nutrition and problem prevention, so becoming knowledgeable about preventative pet care is essential to the ongoing success of your animal's health.
Services
Island Exotic Veterinary Care is proud to serve the Long Island, NY area for everything pet-related.
Our veterinary clinic and animal hospital is run by Heidi Hoefer, who is a licensed, experienced Huntington Station veterinarian.
Our team is committed to educating our clients in how to keep your pets healthy year round, with good nutrition and exercise.
Island Exotic Veterinary Care stays on top of the latest advances in veterinarian technology and above all, remembers that all animals and pets need to be treated with loving care in every check-up, procedure, or surgery.
Birds and exotic pets are different from dogs and cats.
What sets us apart is our experience with non-traditional pets and our dedication to providing compassionate care for all these species.
At Island Exotics, our doctors have over 45 years combined veterinary experience handling, diagnosing, and treating just birds and exotics.
We do not take care of dogs or cats so we can dedicate ourselves to these special species.
Since we opened Island Exotics in 2007, we have cared for over 15,000 birds, reptiles, and small mammal pets.
1. Payment is expected when services are rendered.
In order to focus on our patients' needs, customer service and minimizing costs, we do not bill.
All cards must be signed by the owner of the card.
3. When unexpected illness strikes a pet, unexpected expense strikes as well.
Island Exotic Veterinary Care understands this and is able to make some special arrangements through the CareCredit program.
It takes just 5 minutes to complete an application and will allow you to break down your payment into 6 monthly installments.
There are countless homeless animals in foster care and at shelters and we do hope you consider adoption as an alternative to pet purchase.
The advantages to adoption are several: Adults pets have the advantage of an established personality and finding compatibility is more reliable.
This is especially important with baby rabbits and young birds that often start out as quiet easy-going pets and can have dramatic personality changes at adolescence (about 6 months of age for bunnies).
Adopting an older pet also gives you a shorter commitment if you are new to pet ownership or still figuring it out.
