Services
Great Basin Equine is proud to serve the Gardnerville NV area for everything equine and livestock related.

Our team is committed to educating our clients in keeping their horses healthy year round, with good nutrition, exercise and maintenance.
Great Basin Equine stay on top of the latest advances in veterinarian technology and above all, remember that all animals need to be treated with compassion at every check-up, procedure, or surgery.
Our appointment book is computerized which allows us to efficiently make appointments for you.
Our receptionists and team will attempt to accommodate all requests to the best of our ability.
Emergencies are accepted anytime our clinic is open and we have a doctor on call for overnight or weekend emergencies.
If you feel you have an emergency with your horse, please call us immediately.
It is best to call before coming in so that a staff member can advise you on your particular emergency and make sure we have a doctor ready to assist you.
The equine tooth differs from the human tooth in that it continues to erupt throughout the life of the horse.
As the teeth are in wear, the chewing surface can become misaligned and sharp points can form causing uncomfortable ulcers and other issues in the mouth.
Routine dental examinations are needed to locate and correct problems before they start.
Dental examinations should be performed starting at 6 months of age, and repeated every 6 months for growing horses, yearly for the mature horse, and every 6 months for the geriatric horse.
Farriers are talented professionals who provide an invaluable tool to keeping your horse going strong.
The veterinarians at GBE realize that without these experts, our patients would be in big trouble.
Though skilled, no Farrier has "X-ray Vision" and our digital radiographs are very helpful in guiding decisions about how to trim and shoe your horse.
Our in-house laboratory allows fast results which can help our doctors more quickly diagnose a patient's illness.
Our services include complete blood counts (CBC), serum chemistry and electrolytes, foal IgG SNAP tests, semen evaluation, fecal egg counts, and some cytological exams.
For all other diagnostic tests such as Coggins, virology and serology testing, culture and sensitivity, and tissue biopsies, samples are sent to outside diagnostic laboratories.
