Madison Animal Hospital is a full-service animal hospital and welcomes both emergency treatment cases as well as pet patients in need of routine medical, surgical, and dental care. Dr. Darren Richards has years of experience treating serious conditions and offering regular pet wellness care. Beyond first-rate pet care, we make our clinic comfortable, kid-friendly, and calm, so your pet can relax in the waiting room and look forward to meeting our Madison veterinarian.

Dr. Darren Richards achieved his Doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 2001, graduating magna cum laude. He earned his bachelor's degree summa cum laude in Animal Science/Pre-Veterinary Studies from the University of Maine at Orono. Dr. Richards is a native of downeast Maine and graduated from Machias Memorial High School in 1994.

He is a member of the Maine Veterinary Medial Association, the American Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Animal Hospital Association. He has a dog (Roma) and one cat (Blackberry).

Your pet's annual vet check-up will include a total physical exam, with a thorough investigation of your pet's head, body and tail, and all his assorted cavities.
1. Payment is expected when services are rendered.
In order to focus on our patients' needs, customer service and minimizing costs, we do not bill.
2. We accept debit cards, credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express) checks and cash.
All cards must be signed by the owner of the card.
3. When unexpected illness strikes a pet, unexpected expense strikes as well.
Madison Animal Hospital understands this and is able to make some special arrangements through the CareCredit program.
It takes just 5 minutes to complete an application and will allow you to break down your payment into 6 monthly installments.
Madison Animal Hospital offers a progressive new approach to veterinary care.
Our Wellness Program embraces a focus on preventative medicine based on the specific life-stage of your pet.
Each patient is assessed individually based on factors such as species, breed, age, and environmental challenges.
Next we offer recommendations for prevention, nutrition, and diagnostic work-ups appropriate for your pet.
