She grew up in a small town on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, and became fascinated with animals at a very young age.
She graduated from Towson University with a degree in functional biology of animals, and received her veterinary degree from Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine with a concentration in small animal medicine.
