Services
Established in 1977 by Dr.'s Tom and Jan Mehlhoff, South Shore Veterinary Hospital began its roots as a small town veterinary clinic that focused on exceptional diagnostic and surgical care.
Dr. Tom's knowledge in clinical pathology and Dr. Jan's surgical skill guided the practice through its first thirteen years.
In 1991, Dr. Jan left the field of veterinary medicine to become a Lutheran pastor, which opened the door for Dr.'s Dave and Ann Enright to come on board as partners.
Their addition augmented the high level of excellence in medicine and surgery as both completed post doctorate studies as interns at The Animal Medical Center in New York City in 1987.

Patients are seen from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday and 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday.
On Saturday we are open from 9:00 a.m. until noon.
Preventative care is key to keeping your pet healthy.
A solid preventative care plan includes annual to semi-annual physical exams, depending on your pet's age and medical needs.
We believe that vaccinations should be tailored to your individual pet's level of risk.
In addition, external and internal parasite prevention is vital for both you and your cat's or dog's well-being.
Dr. Dave Enright joined South Shore Veterinary Hospital and the Forest Lake community in 1991.
Shortly after arrival, he and his wife, Dr. Ann Enright became co-owners of the practice with Drs.
Tom and Jan Mehlhoff.
South Shore has given Dr. Dave the opportunity to pursue his many interests in veterinary medicine from surgery to ultrasonography to working with the wildlife (wolves, bears, cougars.) at the Wildlife Science Center.
However, it is the clients and patients that he enjoys most of all.
State of the art treatment area with overhead exam lighting, plumbed medical gas and ample space for fear free treatments.
A quiet place for our doctors to consult with clients, research complex cases and complete medical records.
When it's time to recharge, this multi-purpose space is for break time, staff meetings and continuing education.
We are proud to have Fear Free certified professionals on our team and are dedicated to caring for your pet's emotional well-being as well as his or her physical well-being.
We'd like you to know how we meet that goal.
Is your pet showing signs of bad stress and anxiety before arriving at the veterinary office?
Ask us if pre-visit sedation or supplements might take the edge off and keep your pet happy and relaxed.
You'll be brought into the exam room a few minutes before your pet is seen by the doctor because we'd like the two of you to spend some calm time together.
