Highlands-Eldorado Veterinary Hospital is a full-service veterinary practice that offers a wide variety of clinical services and boarding accommodations for the benefit of our furry friends. These services include surgeries such as spay/neuter and ACL repair; wellness services such as vaccinations, dentistry, and parasite prevention; and therapies such as laser therapy.

Our practice owner, Dr. Wesley Taylor, has over 20 years of experience as a veterinarian in the North Texas area. Over the years, Dr. Taylor and his team of veterinary professionals have organized Highlands-Eldorado Veterinary Hospital to be family-run, community-oriented, and compassion-centered. Our entire veterinary team, from office staff to veterinarians, has one thing in common- we love animals!

Patients in our care can expect to be cherished with true concern for their well-being, and treated to ample amounts of pats, belly-rubs, and chin-scratches. Our commitment to both exceptional veterinary medicine, cutting-edge diagnostic science, and warm and friendly customer service have set us apart as a top veterinarian in our area.
Services
This means that our hospital has been in operation for almost 20 years under continuous management.
Over the years we have gained much experience in both the science of veterinary medicine, and the art of customer service.
We have grown from a small two-person operation to a 13-person staff with two veterinary doctors.
The beautiful Bur Oak tree in our front yard was planted when we broke ground at this location to symbolize the strength, vitality, and comfort that we aim to provide to each one of our patrons.
Annual wellness exams are highly encouraged by virtually all members of the veterinary community, because they are paramount for long-term health in pets.
Having regular check-ups allows your veterinarian to catch potential health issues, such as disease or pain at their earliest stages when they are most treatable.
The annual wellness exam is also a chance for you to discuss your pet's habits, behavior, and care with a professional who can give helpful advice.
At the annual wellness exam, the veterinarian will conduct a full physical examination to determine your pet's health status.
Vaccinations provide the best defense against many potentially fatal diseases.
With their advent, both the human medicine and veterinary medicine worlds saw a revolution in the ability to prevent millions of deaths that could have been caused by contagious diseases.
Vaccinations prevent disease by exposing the immune system to a small, safe, and controlled dose of the particular threat.
This gives the immune system the opportunity to produce antigens which can fight the disease.
If the pet is ever exposed to the disease again after vaccination, the immune system will be prepared after previously going through a similar experience.
Parasites such as fleas, ticks, intestinal worms, and heartworms are some of the most common afflictions that pets suffer from.
They can cause pain, sickness, and even death in pets, and zoonotic diseases can even spread to human family members and infect your home.
In short, parasites are a serious issue.
In the warm Texas environment, it is important to be particularly vigilant, as parasites can survive year-round.
And some parasites, like heartworms, thrive in hot weather.
In the following description, common parasites are described, and information about their treatment and prevention is provided.
Millions of lost pets are brought to animal shelters or veterinary offices every year by well-meaning neighbors and good-hearted passersby.
But sadly, the majority of pets brought to animal shelters are never reunited with their original family.
Pets with microchips embedded in their bodies encoded with their owner's contact information stand much better chances of being reunited with their families.
The microchip implantation procedure is quick and relatively pain-free.
It is comparable to a routine vaccination in terms of time and discomfort.
