The dog days of summer are upon us. Please make sure to keep pets safe and healthy by providing plenty of water for hydration, limiting outdoor time during high temperatures to avoid heart stroke, and securing pets during fireworks and thunderstorms as they may panic and run away from home to seek shelter. If your pet is known to have anxiety from storms and fireworks, your veterinarian may be able to recommend calming medication.

Before walks, test the pavement to make sure it's not too hot for your pet's paws. Do not take pets in the car with you unless absoultely necessary, and do not leave pets unattended in your vehicle. Keep swimming pools secure to avoid a drowning accident with wandering pets. As always, make sure to keep up on flea and heartworm medication through the summer months.
