Hillside Animal Hospital has been serving the tri-state area for 30 years.
The hospital was founded by Dr. Steven H. Harman, the current practice owner, in 1978 following his graduation from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine.
Originally, the practice consisted of Dr. Harman and his wife Jean working out of the basement of a small brick house on Rt. 40.
Since 1978, the original practice has seen many additions and remodeling.
In 2003, the practice welcomed two new veterinarians and quickly outgrew the facility.

Dr. Steve Harman is a life-long resident of the tri-state area graduating from Keyser High School in 1971.
He attended Potomac State College and the Ohio State University and received his veterinary degree in 1978.
Upon completion of his degree, Dr. Harman and his family relocated back to Eckhart, MD where he began his veterinary career and founded Hillside Animal Hospital.
He currently resides locally with his wife, Jean and dog Herbie.
Dr. Ben is a life-long resident of Western Maryland.
He graduated from Beall High School in 1996 and proceeded to Potomac State College where he obtained an AA degree in Animal Science.
He attended Potomac State College and the Ohio State University and received his veterinary degree in 1978.
Upon completion of his degree, Dr. Harman and his family relocated back to Eckhart, MD where he began his veterinary career and founded Hillside Animal Hospital.
He currently resides locally with his wife, Jean and dog Herbie.

Annual to biannual wellness examinations are the cornerstone to healthy pets.
These invaluable visits allow our doctors to pick up on subtle changes before they become major problems.
Each pet receives a comprehensive physical examination prior to any service.
At that time, current health issues are discussed and a tailored vaccination plan is initiated or followed.
We provide services to dogs and cats as well as rabbits, pocket pets, birds, and exotics.
