San Juan Capistrano Animal Control
Our hospital was established in 1965, and is one of two practices in Orange County to have 25 or more years of continuous membership in the AAHA (American Animal Hospital Association). This group is reserved for those small animal hospitals who maintain the highest standards of patient care, diagnostic tests, pharmacy control, client service, human resource management, medical record care and facility upkeep.

We pride ourselves on a long legacy of recommending the standard of care that falls into the question, "What would I do if this were my dog or cat?" Our advertising is strictly word of mouth. We have attempted to stay ahead of the curve, or to establish it. We provide Laser Surgery. Our job and our joy are to do the worrying for you (as if your pet were ours.)

We always encourage input and solicit feedback. The triangle of care starts with your pet, moves onto you, and ends with us. We are proud of our role in serving you and caring for your best friend. San Juan Animal Hospital has created a workup profile to evaluate the inner workings and frailties of your pet.
Services
San Juan Animal Hospital is a high quality small animal veterinary hospital.
We have been serving South Orange County since 1965, and our clients come from all of our immediate area, and also from San Diego and Los Angeles Counties and beyond.
We are a full service facility offering medical and surgical care.
We operate a boarding facility as a service to our clients.
We offer a very unique veterinary experience.
Our hospital is operated as a single doctor practice despite our continued client satisfaction and growth via personal referral.
Every surgical procedure and sedation/anesthetic event has a potential risk of complication.
Some of the complications can be very serious and some can be terminal.
We pride ourselves in minimizing these risks for your pet to a remarkably low level by building in a few safeguards.
Food and bottled water- 7 day supply for each pet, Food dishes, Blanket, towel, or newspaper for warmth, Collar and leash for dogs and cats; I.D. tags should always be on pet!
San Juan Animal Hospital understands the budgeting that goes with long term and monthly medications.
Many of you have had the opportunity to meet Dr. Chandler who has been with us part time for several months.
We are very excited to now have her as a full time associate veterinarian.
Dr. Chandler is native to Orange County and is excited to be here in South County practicing Veterinary Medicine since earing her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine Degree from the University of California, Davis, in 2011.
Dr. Chandler finds great fulfillment professionally as she develops and maintains long term, caring relationships with both her patients and their owners.
We have all been raised with the understanding that vaccinations can protect our pets from disease.
Vaccines have unfortunately been associated with increased risks toward developing some serious internal problems, including cancer and immune-mediated diseases.
Our profession is working on defining the line between "over-vaccinating" and "under-vaccinating".
We are selecting vaccine protocols based on exposure risks, breed and age of individual pets.
We will suggest that we test antibody levels ("titers") to see if an individual pet is still protected by prior vaccinations.
There are three viruses in the cat world that can be harbored in their system without symptoms and that can have devastating consequences.
The viruses can be transferred from direct contact or exposure to an infected cat's secretions and excretions.
Kittens can be born with it and may show no signs of infection for months, years or for a whole lifespan.
There are good screening tests for FELV/FIV/FIP that we suggest running on every cat that is newly acquired (unless it has been tested previously).
