Guardian Animal Medical Center
Choosing the right veterinarian can be one of the most important things you can do for your pet. Our team is here to treat you and your pet like family. Led by Dr. MJ Wixsom, who has lived an incredible life before joining the veterinary space. New clients are encouraged to stop by for a full tour of our facility! If you'd like to set up a tour, please contact us at us at 606-928-6566.

Before entering the veterinary field, Dr. Wixsom spent four years at the United States Coast Guard Academy. She was one of the first 14 women to graduate from any U.S. Academy. After five years of active duty including Commanding Officer on two ships, a knee injury sidelined her career at sea. She decided to return to her childhood dream: veterinary medicine and animal care.

LTJG Wixsom went back to school during her last tour of duty to receive a second Bachelor's degree in biology and then headed off to veterinary school to earn her Doctorate and Masters of Science in Veterinary Parasitology. What does it mean to be an Accredited Member of the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA)?
Services
The American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) is an international association of more than 36,000 veterinary care providers who treat companion animals.
Established in 1933, AAHA is well-known among veterinarians and pet owners for its high standards in veterinary practices and quality care.
AAHA is the only organization that accredits animal hospitals throughout the U.S. and Canada.
Approximately 3,000 AAHA-accredited hospitals voluntarily choose to be evaluated on 900 standards in the following areas: quality of care, diagnostic and pharmacy, management, medical records, and facility.
We know you have a lot of choices when choosing the best Flatwoods veterinary hospital, and we're happy that you've decided to join the Guardian Animal Medical Center family.

Literally the BEST animal clinic around.
I've never met people so friendly & passionate about they animals they care for!
Getting a new puppy is often very overwhelming at times, but with their puppy package they take the time to thoroughly explain & show how to give him the care he wants and needs!
We are always glad to accept resumes from enthusiastic, hard-working, dependable, team oriented people who wish to join our team of veterinary health care professionals.
Responsibilities include scheduling appointments, answering the telephone, setting up new clients and patients, preparation and maintenance of medical records, admitting and discharging patients, filling some prescriptions, over the counter sales, mailings, computer operation, financial transactions, filing, and front office and reception area maintenance.
Veterinary Care Foundation is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit charitable foundation created for the specific purpose of helping veterinary practices fund the discounted and no charge care they generously provide to hardship cases, rescue groups or as good samaritans.
Unlike other veterinary charities, 100% of every contribution to the Veterinary Care Foundation and its member practices go directly to improving the quality of life of pets and their people; all Foundation operating expenses are met by membership dues paid by veterinarians.
Here at Guardian Animal Medical Center, we understand that veterinary care can be expensive.
We strive to lessen the burden of paying for your pet's medical care by providing various payment options.
As much as we would like to, we do not loan money, but we do encourage you to speak with family, friends, or possibly even set up a GoFundMe to assist with payment.
CareCredit knows pets are family too.
That's why we offer veterinary and pet financing to help keep your most cherished family members in top shape.
