Services
Dr. Michael K. Johns received a Bachelor of Science in Animal and Dairy Sciences from Auburn University in 1994.
He then attended the College of Veterinary Medicine, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1998.
After completing his preceptorship in Hartselle, Alabama, he began his career at Linderman Animal hospital as an associate Veterinarian in June of 1998.
After thirteen years in that role, Dr. Johns and Dr. Linderman came to the agreement of switching roles, and in April of 2011, Dr. Johns became the owner of Linderman Animal Hospital.
Surgeries are scheduled and performed Monday through Friday.
Surgery patients should be dropped off no later than 8:30 a.m.
If your pet is showing signs of illness (runny nose, fever, etc.) or the blood work reveals problems, we will reschedule or re-evaluate your pet for surgery.
Pre-anesthetic bloodwork is strongly recommended for all patients, but may be required for those with special health problems or elderly patients.
This bloodwork checks baseline blood values of the kidney, liver, glucose, and protein levels of patients to ensure there are no underlying abnormalities that would prevent us from wanting to sedate your pet.
Dr. Clare Shannon is a Birmingham, AL native.

Dr. Shannon completed a preceptorship at Charleston Equine Hospital in Charleston, SC.
Her first job was in Nashville, TN working on both equine and small animal patients.
Pets are like our children - we feed, nurture and lavish attention on them.
The highly qualified kennel attendants at Linderman Animal Hospital do the same when you can't be there.
We provide tender loving care and supervised outdoor playtime to keep them happy and active.
Our indoor kennel is heated and cooled for your pets comfort.
Feel free to bring your pets own bedding or toys to make their stay more enjoyable.
Make sure to bring any special food or medicine your pet may need during its stay.
Loss of appetite or loss of weight (this combination can result from diseases of many organs, and early veterinary examination is important).
Regular professional cleaning is important to maintaining your pet's teeth.
Linderman Animal Hospital uses modern and safe ultrasonic scaling to clean each tooth thoroughly.
Dental health is important above and below the gum line and will affect you pets' overall health.
Studies have shown that dental tartar can have a direct negative (and sometimes permanent) impact on the heart, liver, and kidneys.
