Animal Medical Center
Animal Medical Center on Romany is a full-service veterinary medical facility located in Lexington, Kentucky. Our professional and courteous staff seek to provide the best possible medical, surgical and dental care for our patients. We are a one-veterinarian practice, and take pride in the close relationships we build with you and your pets. We strive to prevent illness whenever possible.

The time and effort invested in wellness programs has rewards for both pets and owners. Our wellness programs are designed specially for your pet and include a comprehensive physical exam, internal parasite testing, heart worm and flea control, vaccinations, spaying and neutering, and specialized blood testing for all life stages. Veterinary patients feel pain and discomfort under the same circumstances as people do.

We know that recognizing and alleviating pain in animals is the essence of good patient care. Pain control results in faster healing times. Long term pain management is possible through a combination of medications and also acupuncture, and can result in a better quality of life for the patient.
Services
At Animal Medical Center, we provide a complete dog and cat grooming service.
Our experienced, professional groomer will meet with you each time you bring your pet in to discuss exactly how you want your pet groomed.
Services range from a basic bath and brush out, to a full hair cut, including hand scissoring.
All pets receive a nail trim and ear cleaning.
We can also offer a 'shed-less' course of bathing and grooming to limit at home shedding.
We can offer an 'express groom' service for any pet that has special requirements that limit their ability to stay at the groomers for more than a minimal amount of time.
The K-Laser at Animal Medical Center on Romany is a specialized piece of veterinary equipment that delivers a painless laser light into the body.
The light provides energy to the cells, and results in increased circulation in the area.
This draws oxygen and nutrients to the affected area, creating an optimal healing environment, reducing inflammation, swelling, muscle spasm, stiffness and pain.
There is no patient sedation or restraint required, and the experience is usually pleasant and comforting to the pet.
Dr. Donworth has lived in Lexington since 2002.
She is a native of Dublin, Ireland and graduated from the Veterinary College of Ireland, University College Dublin, in 2001.
She completed the United States veterinary certification examinations in 2002.
She lives with her husband and their daughter, as well as 3 dogs.
She enjoys all aspects of small animal medicine, and loves the small town atmosphere of the location on Romany Road.
Being a one vet practice allows her to form a close doctor - client relationship with every dog and cat she takes care of.
Your first visit to the vet with your new puppy is one of the most important visits you will have.
Dr. Donworth believes in spending a lot of time with new puppy owners to set you on the right path to having a healthy, happy, well behaved family dog.
This is always the first question owners have with a new puppy!
It is important to do this right from the beginning.
Crate training is the most effective way to teach a puppy not to urinate or defecate in the house.
It is so effective because puppies are 'pre-programmed' not to soil their sleeping area.
