Did you know that accreditation for animal hospitals is voluntary?
Surprising, isn't it?
Nearly 60 percent of pet owners believe that their pet's veterinary hospital is accredited when it is not.
In actuality, only 12-15% of animal hospitals have gone through the accreditation evaluation process by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA).
We are proud to call ourselves an AAHA-accredited hospital.
In the United States, all human hospitals that serve people with Medicare must be accredited through an accrediting body; they undergo regular reviews and quality checks to ensure they meet standards of quality for every aspect of medical care.

Before you come inside, we ask that your pet be restrained, either on a leash or in a pet carrier.
We are an extremely busy clinic, and you and your pet will most likely meet several other guests and their pets while you are here.
If you are unsure about how your pet will react, or if your pet is aggressive, we ask that you please put a muzzle on them before entering the building.
If you need assistance, briefly come inside without your pet.
We'll be happy to help you in any way we can.
Once you are inside, you should first check with our receptionist to let us know that you are here.

Creature Comforts Veterinary Service was founded in 1986 by Dr. Karin-Susan Breitlauch.
The name was created during a particularly long and boring pharmacology class in 1984, when creature comforts were not a priority for students!
It is a "service" because it has always been the intention to offer more than just a hospital.
The first patient was a skunk, named Chanel, who was owned by a local artist, Hilda Espy, in Delaware Water Gap.
Pennsylvania passed its first rabies vaccination law which meant that there were many animals not yet vaccinated for the disease.
