Services
Midtown Animal Hospital is an established, full-service, veterinary hospital providing comprehensive medical, surgical and dental care to small animals in the heart of Sacramento.
Serving pets from midtown, downtown, East Sac, and more for 50 years.
Our veterinarians and veterinary staff strive to offer not only sound advice, but also optimal veterinary care, thus allowing you the enjoyment of your companion for a maximum number of years.
Our job is not only to treat your pet when he/she isn't well, but also to help you learn how to keep your best friend happy and healthy.
I have been a veterinary technician for 25 years, most of that time at a small practice in the east Bay.
I have studied and attended many management courses over the last ten years and I was happy to join Midtown Animal Hospital in late 2015 as the Practice Manager after relocating to Sacramento.
I truly enjoy my role supporting our great veterinary team and the fabulous midtown community of people and pets.
My true passion is working with my favorite breed the Chinese Shar-pei and their owners.
Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, we stress the importance of an annual physical examination.
Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems.
Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services: Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs.
Surgical Services: Our state-of-the-art surgical suite provides for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures.
We have a contract with a board certified surgeon who is available for consultations and surgery on request.
We provide pet boarding as a service to our clients.
We can board dogs, cats and pocket pets.
Reptiles and avians may be accepted on a case per case basis.
We are able to offer general boarding as well as medical boarding to animals that require medicines to be administered and need more careful monitoring.
Owners are encouraged to drop off the pets own food with them while they are boarding to encourage food acceptance and discourage GI upsets while staying at the facility.
All medications need to be brought in clearly labeled containers with current instructions clearly written.
Dr. MacKie received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Washington State University in 2005.
Following graduation, he moved to the University of Wisconsin-Madison to complete his residency training in Cardiology from 2006-2009.
His clinical interests include, but are not limited to clinical cardiology such as echocardiography and electrocardiography (ECG), pulmonary hypertension in dogs, syncope (fainting) associated with heart disease and arrhythmias, congenital heart disease, arrhythmias, and congestive heart failure (CHF).
