Art City Vets & Urgent Care has been serving pets and their owners in and around Philadelphia since 2018, providing general care, sick visit support and emergency services. Our new state-of-the-art Wellness Center, located across the street from our original location, offers primary care appointments including vaccines and exams, and carries on our tradition of providing exceptional care for dogs, cats and exotic pets.

Services
Dr. Alison Whiter grew up in NJ and received her undergraduate degree in Animal Science from the University of Delaware.
She then ventured west to pursue her doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Oklahoma State University, followed by a Small Animal Medical and Surgical Internship at Texas A & M University.
She has been practicing small animal general medicine since 2004, most recently in Mount Laurel, NJ at a large, 24-hour emergency hospital.
In addition to veterinary medicine, Dr. Whiter has a passion for education and devotes much of her time to teaching veterinary nursing students at Harcum College in Bryn Mawr, PA.
She then ventured west to pursue her doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Oklahoma State University, followed by a Small Animal Medical and Surgical Internship at Texas A & M University.

Dr Jonathan Ball was studying to be a medical doctor when he rescued an abused and neglected pitbull named Eli.
Eli had a number of health and behavioral issues that required veterinary care, introducing Dr. Ball to a different discipline and career course.
Eli went on to earn his Canine Good Citizen certification, therapy dog certification and Trick Dog title, and Dr. Ball went on to the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 2020 with the Elizabeth Bales Small Animal Behavior and Welfare Award.

This passion led her to pursue a career in Veterinary Medicine.
During her undergraduate studies at the University of Maryland, she completed several internships at the National Aquarium in Baltimore, the USDA, Patuxent Wildlife Research Center, and the San Diego Zoo Safari Park.
She later went on to earn her Veterinariae Medicinae Doctoris from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine.
This passion led her to pursue a career in Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Louisa Petronis, originally from Westchester, NY, moved to Philadelphia 10 years ago to pursue a career in Veterinary medicine.
She attended Loyola University in Maryland where she studied creative writing and English.
After graduation, she became involved with a local animal shelter, working in their veterinary spay and neuter clinic.
Realizing her love for veterinary medicine, she moved to Philadelphia and completed a Pre-health Post-baccalaureate at the University of Pennsylvania.
While in the post baccalaureate, she began working as a Nursing assistant in the PennVet ICU, something she continued through veterinary school.

She studied biology and ecology at Boston University, where she spent two years conducting research on the ecology and physiology of bats and spent six months studying tropical ecology in Ecuador.
From there, she went on to the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, where she graduated with honors and won the Student Inspiration Award.
She practiced in Philadelphia for almost four years at a feline-only hospital and in shelter medicine before coming to Art City Vets.
