Our philosophy at Ramey Veterinary Hospital is "pets first", but we never forget there is an entire family that comes with that pet. Our goal is to practice high quality medicine at an affordable price while allowing our staff to enjoy a rewarding career both financially and emotionally. Our practice is a small family of caring and committed people and your pets are our passion.

Many of our employees have been at our clinic for a long time. We believe that an experienced staff is a great resource for you and your pets. Dr. Todd Askew DVM is a lifelong residence of Tuscaloosa and looks forward to caring for your pets. Please give us a chance to care for your pets' needs. You won't be disappointed. We cannot emphasize enough the importance of routine dental care.

Our well-trained staff is capable of performing routine dental prophylaxis while Dr. Askew handles the anesthetic protocols. Nasty plaque build-up is removed to prevent gum recession and disease further down the road. All necessary extractions are done then the remaining teeth are polished and sealed.

Dr. Todd Askew is a lifelong residence of Tuscaloosa who looks forward to caring for your pets.
He attended Tuscaloosa County High School and graduated in 1993.
After high school he achieved his undergraduate in forestry from Mississippi State University.
He later graduated from the Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2004.
Dr. Askew purchased Ramey Veterinary Hospital in 2006 from Dr. Ramey, who opened the clinics doors in 1971.
He has owned the clinic since.
Each individual procedure will vary from pet to pet and condition to condition.
As with humans, the older the individual the more precaution needs to be taken.
Typically a physical examination, review of the patients' medical history and blood work are recommended with older patients.
These precautions will make a procedure as safe as possible with a senior pet.
Remember that an average ratio between our furry friends and humans is approximately 7 years.
This means that if our pet has not been to the veterinarian in the past year, it is the equivalent of a human not having a check up in seven years.
