The Alexandria Veterinary Clinic PetCare Center has been providing veterinary services to central Minnesota since 1917. We specialize in complete health care for all types of animals. The Alexandria Veterinary Clinic PetCare Center has a staff of four doctors and an exceptional support staff of certified veterinary technicians, client service representatives, and groomers.

Health care at the clinic ranges from preventative medicine to critical care. Our veterinarians have more than 100 years of combined veterinary experience to help you with your special pet. We offer state of the art technology including laser surgery. Board Certified specialists in Orthopedics and Dermatology routinely come in to see patients at the PetCare Center.

We offer emergency service for our active small animal clients from 6:00 am - 10:00 pm 7 days a week. Our large animal emergency service is 24/7. It may surprise you to learn that allergies are the most common cause of skin-related problems.

Dr. Mark Christenson is originally from Mahnomen, MN.
He attended North Dakota State University for his Bachelor of Science and Masters of Science degrees and attended the University of Minnesota for his DVM degree.
We provide both core and optional vaccines for dogs and cats.
The American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) recommends that all dogs receive canine distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus, parainfluenza, and rabies vaccinations.
Core vaccines for cats include feline distemper, feline calicivirus, feline herpes, and rabies.
Puppies and kittens should receive their first set of vaccines by eight weeks of age.
We also offer Bordetella, leptospirosis, chlamydia, feline leukemia, and giardia.
We recommend annual wellness exams for adult dogs and cats between one and seven years old.
Pet care should extend beyond the walls of our office and be accessible to you and your pets no matter where you are or when you need help.
With our new Airvet app, you'll be able to connect with your veterinarian virtually via live video, audio, and chat.
We use Airvet to do virtual re-check exams, post-ops, call-backs, and to provide you access to a veterinarian when you need immediate help after-hours.
