After a difficult year of accommodations to safely keep the practice open and allow us to continue to treat our patients effectively, we are ready to resume business as "normal" but still have safety as our goal. SO please read our newsletter to learn about our current reopening plan. Eastlake Veterinary Hospital has provided excellent veterinary care over three decades for the Eastlake, Capitol Hill, Lake Union, Montlake, Queen Anne and University District neighborhoods.
Our goal is to develop lasting relationships by providing high quality, compassionate care for our patients, and their people.

Services
Eastlake Veterinary Hospital was established in 1985 by Dr. Carl Anderson, a longtime resident of Seattle and the Eastlake neighborhood.
After practicing six years in a large multiple facility veterinary practice, the idea of a smaller more intimate neighborhood clinic was very appealing.
Over the years the practice and the neighborhood has grown and changed but maintains the same overall principles.
Dr. Anderson retired in 2019 and sold the practice to Dr. Alex Shearer, who continues to maintain the same goal as Dr. Anderson did - to develop lasting relationships by providing high quality, compassionate care for our patients, and their people.

The annual veterinary exam is the cornerstone of our preventative health care program for your dog or cat.
Exams help prevent disease or treat existing disease that may have gone unnoticed.
It is a time to address any questions you may have concerning your pet's health.
The annual exam accomplishes many goals.
First, the medical history is reviewed and any existing concerns addressed.
The physical examination of the pet provides a good idea of general health and any dental concerns.
If any actions need to be taken, this is the perfect opportunity to do so.

A local veterinary internist and dentist, preformed a study while at KSU veterinary school which demonstrated that periodontal disease (gum disease) in dogs contributes to heart, liver, and kidney disease.
This is the primary reason, along with issues of discomfort, that we are concerned about dental disease.
Periodontal disease, fractured teeth, and other oral health problems are common in dogs and cats.
Our goal is to advise you on how to prevent and properly treat such conditions.
