We offer friendly, affordable and experienced services for large, small and exotic animals. We currently serve as the pound for the City of Fort Dodge, IA and for Webster County, IA. If you have a lost animal, please call us during business hours. As the weather becomes more erratic and warmer, we are seeing more problems with parasites and water-borne diseases.

If your animal is among the many who are itching, please take the time to look at the skin, especially above the head of the tail and on the neck. If you see any scampering bugs or dark curly-cues that turn red in water, your animal has fleas, even if they've NEVER HAD THEM BEFORE. A lot of the over-the-counter flea remedies are no longer effective and if you aren't treating every animal, your house and your yard, you may never get rid of the little pests.

Check out Pet Topics for a better rundown on the problem. Ticks are another problem especially in the Spring and Fall. They carry Lyme Disease, Rocky Mounting Fever, Tularemia and other diseased.
Services
Small, medium and large cages are available for cats and small to medium-sized dogs.
Indoor runs are provided for larger dogs and there is one horse stall and two half horse stalls available on request.
All efforts are made to keep cats in a quiet room away from barking dogs.
If they are docile enough, we allow they to take turns exploring our "Jungle Room" for added environmental enrichment.
Dogs are walked 3 times daily unless otherwise requested by the owner.
Special diets and feeding schedules will be accommodated, though we request that owners of such animals bring their own food and medications.
If an owner wishes to have their deceased animal cremated, we work with an outside service that handles pet cremations.
We reserve the right to refuse this service for non-clients if we do not have sufficient space for temporary storage.
If individual ashes are to be returned, the animal is cremated alone.
You may be assured that we will never mix ashes or exchange cremains with any foreign substances.
You will get only your animal's ashes back in their entirety.
Your pet will be handled with respect.
Many animals require dental care to maintain good oral hygiene and to keep their breath from becoming an issue for the owner.
This is done under general anesthesia.
An ultrasonic scaler is used and the teeth are polished after cleaning.
We use gas anesthesia and offer pre-anesthetic bloodwork to identify any undiagnosed underlying problems.
Most animals are awake within an hour and are ready to return home by early afternoon if not sooner.
All after hours calls are forwarded to our home address.
Due to the nature of the telemarketing industry and sometime frivolous calls, calls are screened by the answering machine.
You will be asked to leave your name and number and the nature of your emergency.
All serious calls will be answered as promptly as possible.
All emergency calls are handled on a cash only basis unless a good working relationship has already been established with the client.
No scissor cuts except by special request and only with approval by the groomer and Dr. Susan Arnold.
Grooming is done by appointments only.
All grooms are scheduled for the morning unless by special request.
Sedation is available for those animals requiring it, though few animals other than cats actual require it.
Gas anesthesia is available for those with special conditions.
We can usually get your pet in, in the same week, but during spring and summer it is usually best to assume that there will be a waiting list.
