Sunrise told me he had leukemia and lymphoma and told me we needed to put him down. A few days later I took him to Alpena Veterinary. They took the time to run the blood work and found out he actually is in kidney failure.

He's a year old. Like me they wouldn't give up on him. They sent him home with antibiotics and iv treatment. This was 6-9-18. As of today his kidney is almost back to normal size, he's up walking around and he's finally eating!

When your horse is having a difficult birth, it is important to have a doctor that has successfully performed c-sections to remove the foal when needed.
The doctor can help make the decision if the foal should be pulled vaginally or removed surgically.
We are strong supporters of the food animal industry and want to see farmers succeed so we do not wait to make the important decisions on dystocias.
We understand the value of a healthy foal and horse after giving birth so we strive to do the best for everyone during this time.
Horses have a unique dental structure in that they have evolved as grazing herbivores.
Like humans, horses have two sets of teeth, deciduous (baby teeth) and permanent teeth.
Adult horses have between 36-44 teeth.
Routine dental work is essential to your horse's overall health.
There are a variety of dental conditions and dieases that occur within the horse population.
Once the tooth structure has been destroyed, there is little that can be done fo the tooth.
Therefore, early diagnosis and treatment of feed pockets and diseased teeth are very important.
Both Dr. Jack and Dr. Greenfield are skilled at diagnosing lameness in the horse.
Our Equine Treatment Center is ideal for lameness examinations.
It provides an indoor arena to evaluate lameness under saddle and also provides an indoor treatment area for further diagnostics.
Digital radiographs allow the doctor to examine bones for fractures and arthritis.
We have the latest technology in digital radiography, which allows us to develop the images within minutes.
The ultrasound allows the doctor to evaluate the integrity of ligaments, tendons, and joints of the legs.
