Services
San Joaquin Veterinary Hospital has been proud to serve the Fresno area since 1978.
Dr Kenneth Stocks has been associated with the hospital since 1987 and Dr Aubrey Alfaro joined the practice in 2004.
Our team is committed to providing high-quality veterinary care at an affordable cost.
One of our priorities is educating our clients on how best to keep their pets happy and healthy.
Appointments are taken Monday thru Friday starting at 9:40am and Saturday starting at 8:20am.
We allow enough time for each Doctor to examine and diagnose each patient while not making other clients wait too long.
For that reason it is very important that you arrive for your appointment 5-10 minutes early to allow for paperwork to be filled out and you to be seated in an exam room.
We realize that your time is important to you and we try to remain on schedule as best we can, but emergencies will happen and they do take priority.
Having your pet seen on a yearly basis for a physical exam is no different than you seeing your Doctor for your annual exam.
And, with your pets shorter lifespan it is even more important to catch any problems quickly before they progress into something that can't be fixed (like removing a small tumor before it starts to in invade other parts of the body).
We recommend yearly examinations for all ages so that we can help prevent serious health problems in the future.
Comprehensive exams include a thorough examination of your pet's fur coat and skin, legs, and paws, eyes and ears, nose and throat, mouth, teeth, gums, heart and lungs, abdomen, gastrointestinal and urogenital systems.
Vaccines are an everyday part of our life.
We vaccinate our young ones as they grow and follow a recommended protocol.
With more information becoming available as with the potential risks with overvaccinating, we have changed our vaccination protocols based on the recommendations from AAHA, AAFP, and the most current symposiums.
Then the same vaccine is repeated every 3-4 weeks until the puppy is 15 - 16 weeks old.
Rabies is given after 4 months of age.
Both DAPP and Rabies are boostered in one year then every 3 years after that.
Our dedicated surgical suite is equipped with the latest monitoring and support devices.
Items like suction, electrocautery positive flow ventilation and patient warming devices all ensure the safest environment for surgical procedures like spays and neuters to abdominal expoloratory surgeries and orthopedic surgeries.
Soft issue procedures range from standard spays and neuters to more complicated surgeries like abdominal exploratory, splenectomy, hernia repair and caesarian section.
Orthopedic procedures include cruciate repair, patellar luxation, bone plating, external fixator repair, and bone pinning.
